Henry Wiechman serves as the worldwide manager of TI’s Streaming Media group, where he is responsible for strategic product positioning, new customer design engagements, and product and business development for DSP-based solutions for streaming media end equipments.

Previously, Wiechman was the manager of TI’s C6000 digital signal processor (DSP) product line and the marketing manager for TI’s flagship TMS320C6000? platform of fixed and floating point digital signal processors, the world’s most powerful DSP platform based on the advanced VelociTI™ VLIW architecture.

Wiechman began his career at Texas Instruments in MOS memory customer engineering. In addition to his C6000 duties, Wiechman has also been responsible for marketing efforts surrounding TI’s TMS320C4x™ floating point DSPs.

Wiechman received his bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Kansas State University and his master’s of business administration from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a member of the Institute of Electric and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Enabling IPTV Innovation
China is becoming one of the most important markets for IPTV. Carriers and telecom vendors are eager to find a business that can bring about net new users and higher ARPU while they face increasingly fierce challenges in a highly competitive arena. IPTV seems to be an exciting opportunity for them.

This presentation will discuss the current market drivers, key challenges facing IPTV service providers, the end-to-end IP-STB solution and what TI is doing to enable innovation in IPTV. We will also look at some of the key features in media processor SOCs that enable system providers to innovate and implement differentiating features in their streaming media products. While current systems are largely focused on decoding applications, flexible media processor SOCs enable differentiating features such as video telephony, remote security monitoring over the internet and content sharing throughout the connected home.
